Bios
As a music director, composer and violinist, Lowell Hohstadt began his career concertizing Europe and North America. He subsequently spent 37 years in church worship ministry. Throughout this time, he composed over 400 works for a wide variety of venues in styles ranging from Modern Classical to Jazz and Contemporary Pop/Rock. He is now leading the Dolce Music School, dedicated to the development of aspiring musicians.
Lowell Hohstadt received his Bachelor of Music degree from The Juilliard School in 1986 and his Master of Music degree from the Eastman School of Music in 1989. He has studied composition with Samuel Adler and Michael Czajkowski and violin with Dorothy Croft, Margaret Pardee, Kevin Lawrence, Dorothy Delay, Masao Kawasaki and Sylvia Rosenberg. He has performed as soloist with Juilliard Orchestras, including the premier of his own original violin concerto. He has also been featured as a soloist with the Oradea Philharmonic in Romania, the Seville Philharmonic in Spain, the Janacek Philharmonic Orchestra at Prague’s House of Culture during the International Tribune of Young Artists, and the Vienna State Opera Orchestra in the Musikverein Hall in Vienna, Austria. He has performed as soloist with the Midland-Odessa Symphony on two separate occasions, once touring Mexico, as well as premiering a second original violin concerto. He has performed solo recitals in Europe and the United States. He is the winner of the Bach concerto competition at Juilliard, and the Friday Afternoon Music Club competition, performing on NewYork City’s WQXR classical radio station. He studied at the Meadowmount Summer Music Camp for seven consecutive years, performing at their open concerts, as well as participating in the Aspen Music Festival.
Kathy Hohstadt, Lowell’s wife, and mother of their two children, graduated Valedictorian, from John Glenn Highschool, in Westland, Michigan in 1981. She attended seven years of Interlochen Summer Music Camp and four years of the University Division, as well as playing in the award-winning Michigan Youth Symphony. She attended the University of Michigan on a partial scholarship as a viola major, studying with Donald McInnes. Upon graduating, she was accepted into the National Orchestral Association in New York City in their 1985-86 Season. She has played in the Midland-Odessa Symphony and Chorale (now, West Texas Symphony) since 1987, as well as teaching violin, viola, and piano in her private studio. She is co-founder of the Dolce Music School, along with her husband.

Over 40 Modern Classical compositions, including a symphony, three symphonic overtures, three violin concertos, four string quartets, violin sonata, four Christian seasonal oratorios, two brass quintets, and various choral and instrumental works.
Works for worship include composition/arrangements for Christmas, Easter, Patriotic Celebrations, contemporary Praise and Worship songs, contemporary songs on Christian Themes, instrumental compositions for worship.
Developed and published a new method of electronic music composition using Max for Live (Max/MSP), named Integrated Frequency.
